Welcome! I'm Chanthi Vijayapala, a Sri Lankan-Canadian artist and all-around creative, currently based in Tkaronto/Toronto, ON. I create vibrant paintings celebrating the beauty of birds, nature, and the cycles of life. Through ckayevie studio, I share my love for the natural world with original paintings, art prints, and stationery products for fellow nature enthusiasts and creatives.

It all started with my dad's red drafting pencil, a blank sheet of paper, and my three-year-old creativity... 

Since then, I haven't stopped creating!

Throughout my childhood, I was always making something—whether a meticulous pencil drawing, a mishmash of colourful paint on canvas, pushing pixels on my computer, or stitching together fabrics—I was always playing with a creative outlet to express myself.

Moving into young adulthood, I decided to pursue a career in animation and moved from my humble beginning in Saskatchewan to beautiful British Columbia. Though working in a creative field, I kept finding myself coming back to painting and bookbinding as a form of stress relief and mindfulness. Focusing on painting again, I felt pulled to share my work and ever growing art practice leading to the creation of this shop! 

When I'm not making some form of art, you can find me birdwatching, rollerskating, doing yoga, or reading a good book.
